Physical & Occupational, and Speech Therapy

Challenged Champions now offers an outpatient Physical, Speech and Occupational Therapy Clinic for clients.  Clients and their therapists are able to utilize both our gross motor and sensory room to enhance their therapy experience.  Physical and Occupational Therapy services use traditional based treatment methods along with specific equine movements to address functional therapy goals as a part of a patient's integrated plan of care.

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy focuses on gross motor movement.  By addressing the gross motor development milestones like sitting, standing, crawling and walking, Physical Therapy lays a broad foundation for all other skills.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy Focuses on essential daily activities.  By analyzing and addressing the many different skills required, Occupational Therapy makes everyday tasks like getting dressed, brushing teeth, writing or drawing, self-feeding, or playing appropriately with peers, possible.

What is Speech Therapy?

Speech Therapy is the treatment of speech and communication disorders. Equine movement facilitates and improves in postural alignment and control, which are integral for coordination and timing of sufficient respiratory support, speech production, and vocal control.

 What is Hippotherapy?

Hippotherapy is a medically based treatment strategy used by Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy.  Hippotherapy is not its own treatment, it is a tool used by our Physical and Occupational Therapists as a part of the clients treatment session.  Treatment utilizes specific equine movements to address functional therapy goals as a part of a patient's integrated plan of care.  Only a portion of the client's treatment utilizes the horse.
